Keep'n On

Keep'n On from Denver Bouldering on Vimeo.

Video from the other day at Clear Creek. Yes this is highball. I know it does not look like one. What you do not see under those pads, is a deep pit of doom. If you fall and go through the pads you will most likely snap something in your leg. I am hoping to build up the landing and make it safer.

Psyched

I have been getting outside a lot lately trying to get back into outdoor shape for the upcoming summer season. Today I got outside with Matt L., Matt M., and T.J. and Julian. Our main goal was to check out this sweet new highball. It should be a great addition to the Front Range when it goes. Good links were being made until Matt broke a crucial hold off up high. The hold that broke was a crimp that was important to help setup for the big move out left. Now the move has to be done with a match down low and a big move to a bad hold on the arete. There is also still a really small crimp to use where the holds was but it makes the move a lot harder.
On the other side of this problem. There is an amazing clean face with a death landing. After today there is a stand start that goes around V5 and a lower start that is around V7.
I am psyched to get back and finish this project. Stay tuned for more pictures and videos.

Getting Back into it

Setting, setting and more setting is the name of the game for me lately. I have been setting at least four days a week the past few weeks. I feel I am getting this down to a science and I feel my routes and boulder problems are becoming better by the day.
I have also started to coach the kids team at the Lakewood Rec. Center. Coaching the team is getting me psyched on wanting to push myself again. I had lost some of my motivation recently due to the job hunt and finishing school. Watching these kids climb provides great motivation. Watching them just attack a route or boulder problem with everything until they are at the top is inspiring to say the least. I am training harder to finally finish off those Mt. Evans climbs and get some revenge at Battle in the Bubble in May.
The other day to kick off my training I did the following:
60 Pull-ups-6 sets of 10
50 Push-ups-3 minutes and 13 seconds
3x4's-I ran out of time to get that last problem in.
Numerous Boulder Problems
Campus Board Workout-Got to get the contact strength back

Back in Action

Here is a picture of the route Matt just bolted in Morrison. It is a great climb with some amazing movement on it. I usually do not dig the roped climbs as much, but this one is worth it. Who knew stuff like this still existed in Morrison.
Lately I have been way to busy with finishing up school and student teaching, but now that it is over I can get focused again on climbing and kick it up this year.
So far my checklist is coming along:
1. Graduate Grad school-Done
2. Find a Job- Well sort of, still trying to piece it all together. I will be starting to work with the kids team at the Lakewood Rec Center and I am excited about this.
3.Set More- Done and Done, I will now be setting at the Lakewood Rec Centers and Thrillseekers
4. Climb More than the previous year-No real problems or places, just get out there and climb
